Meet the Team

Dr. Amit Sharma

Qualifications : B.D.S, I.Q.E, PG DIP IMP, DENT UCL

Dr. Amit Sharma qualified in India in 2005. He had worked at several practices in London before moving to Dorset with his family in 2018 where he worked in Wareham before taking on Alaska house in partnership with his wife Dr. Smita Sah.

Amit has pursued post graduation studies doing is PG-Dip in Implants from Eastman institute of dental sciences in London. He is also currently undertaking further training doing Masters course in restorative dentistry and a certificate course in periodontics.

He has a passion for dental implants, short term orthodontics, surgical extraction and restorative dentistry.

His passion for dentistry can be seen in his attitude and his focus on each patient as a whole whether it is a check-up or a full mouth restoration. He is very gentle and very good at putting patients at ease.

Family life with 2 little girls and continuing educational development keeps him quite busy. Outside dentistry he enjoys travelling, paddle boarding, Skiing and cycling.

Dr. Smita Sah

Qualifications : B.D.S

Dr. Smita Sah qualified as a General dentist in 2004 in India. She gained her International qualification exam in 2007 in U.K. and went further to acquire MJDF from Royal college of surgeons in 2012. She has worked in Greenwich London for 10 years before moving to Dorset. She has been working in mydentist Wareham since 2018.

Smita really enjoys working as a dentist and has a passion for cosmetic dentistry, smile design, facial rejuvenation.

She is currently offering free consultation for providing more information regarding facial aesthetic treatments like relaxing frown lines, crows feet and plumping up lost volume in skin., lips etc.

She has been working and training several nurses and helping other colleagues. She has experience with treating children too.

Married to Amit for last 15years and has 2 daughters. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, enjoying walks, reading, art and skiing.

Dr Venu Mehta

Qualifications : MBBS, DA, FRCA, PG (cert) Multidisciplinary healthcare simulation

Dr Mehta graduated from India. After receiving initial anaesthetic training in India, she moved to UK where she further trained as anaesthetist in Wales and North midlands. Her special interests are complex general surgery, difficult airway, paediatric anaesthesia and simulation. She has achieved postgraduate certificate in multidisciplinary healthcare simulation from University of Birmingham. She is an advanced life support instructor.

Qualifications :BSc Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy 2010

Vicky is our Dental Hygienist and Therapist. She graduated with BSc (Hons) from the University of Portsmouth in 2010 with a graduation prize for the best periodental case presentation in her clinical finals. Vicky has been a part of the team at Alaska House for 4 years, she is known for her love of the colour pink and has a gentle and friendly approach to treating her patients. Outside of work Vicky enjoys running, live music, festivals and camping in her much loved campervan Billy.

Amelia Anne West

Qualifications :BSc Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy 2018

Millie is a Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist. She graduated with a First Class BSc Honours from the University of Portsmouth Dental academy in 2018, and has a total of 14 years experience in the dental profession.

Since graduating, Millie has presented her research at the International Association of Dental Research conference in London Excel, and has since been published in the British Dental Journal. In addition, she undertook further training in the Special Care Dental service providing oral health education, periodontal treatment, fillings in adults and children, and extractions in children. Upon completion, Millie received the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy Graduation Award.

A preventative approach is at the forefront of Millie’s practice, and she has a wide understanding of the varying influences on an individual’s health. She has a very friendly and approachable manner and aims to work with patients to help achieve optimum oral health.

Millie grew up in Blandford Forum and knows the town well. She has two children and loves days out with her family and friends. She also enjoys home renovations, keeping fit, baking and walking her mischievous cocker spaniel.

Cianna started working in dentistry in 2016 and loved building rapport with patients over the years. She graduated in 2023 as dental hygienist and therapist. She has experience in a wide range of treatments but particularly excels with nervous patients and children. She is a mom to a wonderful daughter and loves going to the gym.

Nicole Nedelec-Walsh

Qualifications : Diploma Dental Hygiene (University of Wales 2003), Diploma Dental Therapy (University of Wales 2003)

Nicole was born and raised in Canada until she moved to Devon with her family in 1984.

She has over 30 years experience in healthcare starting as a healthcare assistant before doing her Dental Nurse training with Cardiff Dental School and then going on to study Dental Hygiene Therapy at Cardiff University qualifying in 2003-2004.

In 2010 she volunteered with a Ugandan dental outreach program providing dental care in several remote villages and she has just returned to the U.K. after living and working in the UAE for 8 years.

Her personal interests are travel, photography, cooking and baking.

Heather is our long standing member of staff with over 40 years experience in dentistry. She is well known and loved by our patients for her friendly and chatty approach. Heather is Dorset born and bred and outside of work enjoys running. She has completed 6 marathons over the years. Heather has a large family and takes pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren.

Tash qualified as a Dental Nurse back in 2015 at Poole College. She has been working in Dentistry for over 8 years. Tash previously worked in the NHS sector and enjoys general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and has an interest in Implants. She has 2 young children and enjoys spending her free time with them.

Monique, known as Mo, has worked as the receptionist for the practice for over 3 years. She is a mum of 2 and grandmother to 4 gorgeous children. She is a Dorset girl and loves exploring the county and finding new places. On her days off you will find her with her family and friends – she likes cooking and her desserts are loved by all! She loves spending time walking her Lhasa Milo or a sunny day on the beach.

Emma has lived and worked in Blandford all her life. She has worked as a receptionist in dentistry for 26 years. She is new to the team and started at Alaska House in June 2021. She loves her job, meeting patients and giving great customer service. Outside of work she has two children and enjoys country life. She has a small holding with a horse, chickens and bees and she also loves to read.
